About Me

I attended Northern Illinois University where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Health Education and English. I am currently working towards a Masters Degree as a Reading Specialist from The University of St. Francis and will be graduating in the fall of 2017.

I have five years of experience in teaching second grade and have switched to fourth grade this year. I am so excited for this new adventure because it will allow me to focus more on literacy which is my true passion. My favorite children's author is Roald Dahl and I have themed my classroom based on his stories and illustrations. My favorites are The BFG, George's Marvelous Medicine, and The Twits. In my spare time I like to garden with my husband, search for unique antiques, eat delicious food, and go to yoga.

Students working on a Dia de los Muertos project in groups. To honor those who have past, students were given a Hispanic writer or poet to research. The final project will be an altar with symbols representing the person's life.

We had such a great time reading Roald Dahl poems and eating delicious food together at the Family Literacy Night! One of my favorite Brighton Park family traditions!
